From Canada to Colorado! It was great to talk some hockey with Karen Rickard, she’s a coach and a mentor to many young female hockey players looking to achieve their goals. Karen began as many Canadian hockey players do, on the outdoor pond. Following minor hockey Karen accepted a scholarship to Wisconsin, where she finished her 4 years and found her way to Texas, working with the Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks, she eventually moved to Colorado working full time as a coach and mentor helping develop young players with their skills and their understanding of how to play the game. Karen shares some great insight and advice for parents and players, from how to navigate the female hockey world, communicating with coaches, her coaching coaching philosophy and much more. Karen is a great hockey mind with an honest and passionate approach to the game and how she coaches and communicates with her players and parents. This is a great episode for any parents and players looking for some advice with their hockey journey. This was an awesome conversation with a respected and knowledgable hockey coach. We hope you enjoy the episode!
